The Birth of China's First Granulator: The Starting Point and Glory of Zhengchang Group

The Birth of China's First Granulator: The Starting Point and Glory of Zhengchang Group

In the 1970s, China's feed industry was still in its infancy, lagging behind the world's advanced level by more than 70 years. However, with the country's emphasis on agricultural modernization, the feed industry gradually became an important part of the national economy. At this time, the lack of granulators, a core piece of equipment, became a key bottleneck limiting the development of China's feed industry.

Historical Opportunity: From Introduction to Independent Innovation

In the early 1970s, to promote the development of the domestic feed industry, the Ministry of Commerce imported China's first ring die granulator from Italy and designated it as a research object for localization. However, this only available piece of equipment was expensive, and the procurement quantity was limited. The Ministry of Commerce stipulated that this granulator could only be disassembled and assembled once, for two participating research units—the state-owned Liyang Grain and Oil Machinery Factory and a certain enterprise in Zhengzhou under the Ministry of Commerce—to conduct measurement research. Whoever could complete the localization of the equipment first would leave a significant mark in the history of China's feed industry.

This was a comprehensive competition of hardware and software capabilities, as well as a major test of scientific research spirit and innovation ability.

Difficult Start: Wisdom and Perseverance in Adverse Situations

Unexpectedly, the Zhengzhou team disassembled and measured the equipment 10 days ahead of schedule for certain reasons. When the research personnel from Liyang Grain Machinery Factory arrived, the Zhengzhou team had already completed all the measurement work and reassembled the granulator. This sudden change brought a huge challenge to the research team of Liyang Grain Machinery Factory.

Faced with the adverse situation, the researchers at Liyang Grain Machinery Factory did not lose their composure but quickly adjusted their strategy and actively sought alternative solutions. Through various efforts, they successfully found another imported granulator as a reference device. In an era without the internet and computers, they used a T-square and drawing pens as tools, supported by their excellent professional skills, to measure every component day and night, deeply analyze the operating mechanism of the granulator, and gradually advance the measurement and design work.

Breakthrough Zero: The Birth of China's First 45-Type Granulator

After months of hard work, the researchers at Liyang Grain Machinery Factory finally completed the full set of granulator drawings and took the lead in manufacturing China's first domestically produced pellet feed press—the 45-type granulator. Meanwhile, the research and development work at the Zhengzhou unit had not yet been completed.

This domestically produced granulator made its debut at that year's Ministry of Commerce trade fair, and once launched, it received high attention and widespread acclaim. With its excellent performance and high quality, the 45-type granulator was in short supply, providing the urgently needed core equipment for the domestic feed industry and greatly promoting the development of the industry.

Far-Reaching Significance: Opening a New Era for China's Feed Machinery Industry

The birth of the 45-type granulator not only filled the gap in this field in China but also marked the entry of China's feed machinery industry into a new stage of independent research and development. Liyang Grain Machinery Factory was thus rated as a "Ministry-Excellent Enterprise" by the Ministry of Commerce, becoming a leader in the industry.
This research and development competition for the granulator was not only a victory for Liyang Grain Machinery Factory but also a historic breakthrough for China's feed industry. It was through such struggles and accumulations that Liyang Grain Machinery Factory gradually developed and grew into today's Zhengchang Group—a leading enterprise serving the global grain, oil, and feed industry with innovation and professionalism as its core competitiveness.

Carrying Forward the Past and Opening Up the Future: Paying Tribute to History through Innovation

The birth of China's first granulator is a microcosm of Liyang Grain Machinery Factory's pursuit of excellence and willingness to break through. Zhengchang Group has inherited this historical gene, continuously innovating in the fields of feed machinery, grain and oil processing, and food engineering, providing more efficient, intelligent, and green solutions to serve the global market.

History is a signpost to the future. Starting from the 45-type granulator, Zhengchang Group has gradually become a leader in the industry, writing a century-long legend of China's feed machinery industry with innovation and perseverance.
